Ricky Ford

Saxophonist Ricky ford has worked with the Mercer Ellington-led Duke Ellington band, Charles Mingus, the Mingus Dynasty, Lionel Hampton, the Newport All Stars and Abdullah Ibrahim in addition to leading his own groups as a band leader and composer.

Ford recorded four albums for Candid Records between 1989-91.  American-African Blues was record live at New York City’s Birdland in 1991 and features the same section (Byard, Hinton, Riley) Ford used for his Candid releases Ebony Rapsody and Manhattan Blues.
