Cal Massey's compositions have been recorded by likes of John Coltrane, Archie Sheep, and Lee Morgan. In January 1961, producer Nat Hentoff gave Massey his first receding date, and as it turned out, his only recording date, under his own name.
The sessions were lost for many years with only an edited versions of 'Father and Son' every appearing on record. Here then, is the missing date in its entirety, recorded at the Nola Penthouse Studio in New York City.
Cal Massey, Jimmy Garrison, Chuck Stewart, G.T. Hogan, Julius Watkins, Patti Brown, Hugh Brodie
