
American saxophonist and fluatist David Leibman’s resume includes stints with free jazz group Open Sky, the early 70s albums by the great Elvin Jones, and the groundbreaking electric band of Miles Davis.
It is noted that his main inspiration in becoming a musician was John Coltrane, and here Liebman pays tribute to his idol.
This set from 1993 features six of Coltrane's top compositions from the 1961-66 period features a a large format group, including the James Madison University Ensemble, and Flute Choir.
