Saxophonist Ricky ford has worked with the Mercer Ellington-led Duke Ellington band, Charles Mingus, the Mingus Dynasty, Lionel Hampton, the Newport All Stars and Abdullah Ibrahim in addition to leading his own groups as a band leader and composer.
Ford recorded four albums for Candid Records between 1989-91. Hot Brass is notable for the two Ellington compositions, and accompaniment of trumpet, flugelhorn player and Candid Records recording artists, Claudio Roditi.
