Radical, free jazz pianist pioneer, Cecil Taylor's music is often described as ahead of its time. Emerging in the mid 1950s, Taylor developed a percussive approach to the piano, combining it with outstanding technique from his classical training. This was originally recorded by Candid Records founder and A&R man Nat Hentoff in 1961. The sessions with Taylor and Buell Neidlinger spanned over two nights in January. The album as a whole, reveals the considerable force of Neidlinger in particular.
