The horn men here were Basie stalwarts through and through with Harry Edison and Buddy Tate coming from the more loose limbed, early band and Frank Wess one of the new stars of the fifties aggregation. In 1990, they blend with seamless ease, their background is an important factor in the way they play and in the manner in which they respond to each other but it never masks their personalities.
This is timeless jazz by scholars from the Basie School of Excellence relaxed, creative but above all else, player by men enjoying themselves
